WHAT IS LASIK?

LASIK is a form of laser vision correction that corrects nearsighted and farsightedness by reshaping the cornea. Using our CustomVision Laser technology we can also now correct astigmatism! LASIK is one of the most commonly performed elective procedures in the United States due to its quick recovery, accuracy, and safety. With LASIK, it takes only seconds to treat a lifetime of poor vision! 99.3% of our patients are seeing 20/20 or better!

WHY CHOOSE LASIK?

LASIK is one of the most popular and trusted vision correction procedures because it offers fast visual recovery, minimal discomfort, and long-lasting results. Many patients choose LASIK to reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses and contact lenses, making everyday activities like driving, traveling, working out, and waking up in the morning more convenient and enjoyable.

Using advanced CustomVision™ technology, LASIK is tailored specifically to your eyes to provide precise, personalized results. The procedure itself is quick, with most patients noticing improved vision within hours and returning to normal activities within a day or two. For many people, LASIK is a life-changing investment that provides greater freedom, convenience, and confidence in their everyday lives.

      IS LASIK FOR YOU?

If you’re tired of depending on glasses or contact lenses, LASIK may be the solution you’ve been looking for. Many patients choose LASIK to enjoy clearer vision, greater convenience, and freedom from the daily frustration of contacts, dry eyes, or constantly reaching for glasses.

The best way to determine if LASIK is right for you is through a comprehensive consultation and eye exam. During your visit, our experienced team will evaluate your vision, discuss your goals, answer your questions, and create a personalized treatment recommendation based on your eyes and lifestyle.

LASIK:
IN THREE SIMPLE STEPS

  1.  The first step is to create a thin layer, or “flap”, under which the Laser Vision Correction is to be applied. Creating the “flap” can be accomplished using either a precise instrument called a microkeratome, or can be created using a femtosecond laser.

  2. The second step is to carefully fold the “flap” over and allow the inner layer of the cornea to be visible so that the laser can treat the area. For most patients the actual application of the  Wavelight Allegretto Wave®  Eye -Q Excimer Laser only takes 2-15 seconds, depending on the amount of correction necessary.

  3. The third step is to gently smooth over the “flap” back into its original position.

The cornea is a remarkable tissue that has a natural bonding quality so that the "flap" adheres back to the cornea without the need for sutures or stitches. This makes the healing and visual recover process very quick for most patients.

Choosing the right LASIK surgeon is one of the most important decisions you can make when considering laser vision correction. Experience, technology, safety standards, and personalized care all play a major role in achieving the best possible outcome. At Stahl Vision, our surgeons use advanced diagnostic technology and customized treatment planning to ensure every patient receives care tailored to their unique eyes and vision goals. With decades of combined experience and thousands of successful procedures performed, Brian Stahl, James Knowles, and John F. Gillis are trusted leaders in LASIK and refractive surgery throughout the Miami Valley.

Great candidates for LASIK or PRK are typically adults with healthy eyes, stable vision, and realistic expectations about the procedure. Patients who are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism often achieve excellent results with laser vision correction. The best way to determine if you are a candidate is through a comprehensive consultation and eye exam, where our team can evaluate your eyes, discuss your lifestyle needs, and recommend the safest and most effective treatment option for your vision.
